Frequently asked questions about the TELC tests

TELC stands for The European Language Certificates. It is a standardised language testing system recognised across Europe and based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The TELC exam tests all the key areas of competence:

  • Speaking
  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Language elements (only assessed in specific exams)
  • Writing

The scope and difficulty of the tasks vary depending on the language level (A1 to C2). The exams are clearly structured and based on real-life communication situations.

The exam consists of two main parts:

  • Oral part (speaking): usually as a partner exam, approx. 15–25 minutes
  • Written part (reading, listening, language elements, writing): approx. 70–150 minutes depending on the level

The exams are conducted by trained examiners in line with defined TELC assessment criteria.

A TELC certificate is internationally recognised and widely accepted by the following institutions:

  • Authorities and government offices (e.g. for residence permits, naturalisation)
  • Universities and colleges (e.g. as proof of language proficiency)
  • Employers both in Germany and abroad
  • BAMF integration courses and vocational language courses

We regularly offer TELC tests for the following language levels:

You can request a specific TELC exam online by clicking on your desired language level and submitting a request for your desired TELC exam using the request form. We will then send you all further information for the registration via email. If you are unsure of your language level, you are welcome to take a free placement test.

Our TELC language exams usually take place on Fridays. Exam bookings must be made in person. Please come to our office in Chemnitz: Technologie Centrum Chemnitz, Annaberger Str. 240, 09125 Chemnitz. Don’t forget to also bring your ID with you when booking an exam. This is required for the official TELC registration.

As a rule, the examination is taken in person at our office in Chemnitz.

Our examiners are certified under the official TELC and CEFR standards. They assess written and oral performance objectively and transparently.

You will usually receive your results after approximately four to six weeks. You can collect your TELC certificate from our office.

CEFR A2 German Exam

The CEFR certificate (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) can officially confirm your German language skills at level A2. The A2 exam tests whether you can understand and use frequently used expressions and sentences on familiar topics. GER B2 Deutsch Prüfung

Mit der GER Deutsch Prüfung können Sie Ihre Deutschkenntnisse auf dem Level B2 offiziell nachweisen, In der B2-Prüfung weisen Sie nach, dass Sie komplexe Texte und Diskussionen auch zu abstrakten Themen verstehen. Sie können sich spontan und flüssig unterhalten, Ihre Meinung klar ausdrücken und Vor- und Nachteile argumentativ darstellen. Die Prüfung besteht aus mehreren Teilen, die Schreiben, Hören, Lesen, Sprechen und Grammatik abprüfen. 

Bitte stellen Sie folgendes vor der Buchung Ihrer GER-Deutsch B2 Prüfung sicher:

  • Prüfen Sie bitte vorher, ob ein GER-Zertifikat für Ihre Zwecke ausreicht und anerkannt wird. 

  • Sie entscheiden auf Ihre eigene Verantwortung auf welchem Level Sie Ihre Deutschkenntnisse testen lassen wollen. Sollten Sie vorher keinen Sprachkurs abgelegt haben und Sie sich deshalb nicht sicher sind, welches Sprachniveau Sie besitzen, können Sie auch gerne bei uns einen kostenlosen Einstufungstest machen. GER B1 Deutsch Prüfung

Sie besitzen bereits Deutschkenntnisse auf Niveau B1 und müssen diese nur noch offiziell bestätigen lassen? Dann können Sie dies mit der GER-Prüfung (Gemeinsamer Europäischer Referenzrahmen für Sprachen) B1 tun. Mit der B1-Prüfung zeigen Sie, dass Sie sich klar über vertraute Themen äußern können. Sie verstehen die wichtigsten Informationen aus Gesprächen, wenn Standardsprache verwendet wird, und können sich in typischen Alltagssituationen im deutschsprachigen Raum verständigen. Es werden in der Prüfung die Kompetenzbereiche Schreiben, Lesen, Hören, Sprechen und Grammatik abgefragt.

Bitte lesen Sie sich folgende Hinweise vor der Buchung einer GER Deutsch B1 Prüfung durch:

  • Sollten Sie das Zertifikat für bestimmte Zwecke nutzen wollen, prüfen Sie bitte vorab, ob ein GER-Zertifikat anerkannt wird.

GER A2 Deutsch Prüfung

Das GER-Zertifikat (Gemeinsamer Europäischer Referenzrahmen für Sprachen) kann offiziell Ihre Deutschkenntnisse auf Niveau A2 bestätigen. Die A2-Prüfung prüft dabei, ob Sie häufig gebrauchte Ausdrücke und Sätze zu vertrauten Themen verstehen und nutzen können. Sie können kurze Gespräche über Alltagsthemen wie Familie, Einkaufen, Arbeit oder Ihre Umgebung führen und einfache Informationen austauschen. Dabei werden Lese- und Hörverstehen, Sprechen, Schreiben und Grammatik getestet. 

Bitte vor der Anmeldung zur Prüfung folgende Punkte sicherstellen:

GER A1 Deutsch Prüfung

Mit der GER-Prüfung (Gemeinsamer Europäischer Referenzrahmen für Sprachen) können Sie Ihre Deutschkenntnisse ohne vorherige Teilnahme an einem Sprachkurs für das Deutsch Niveau A1 offiziell zertifizieren lassen. In der A1-Prüfung zeigen Sie, dass Sie einfache Sätze verstehen und verwenden können, um grundlegende Bedürfnisse zu äußern. Sie können sich vorstellen, einfache Fragen zu Ihrer Person beantworten und sich in sehr alltäglichen Situationen verständigen, wenn Ihr Gegenüber langsam und deutlich spricht. In der GER-Prüfung werden die Kompetenzbereiche Lesen, Schreiben, Grammatik, Sprechen und Hören geprüft.
