Frequent questions about sign language interpretation

There is no single universal sign language understood worldwide. However, International Sign Language (ISL) functions as a common form of communication across borders. It combines elements from various national sign languages and is mainly used at international events, congresses, and meetings of global deaf organizations.

ASL (American Sign Language) and BSL (British Sign Language) are independent languages with their own grammar and vocabulary. International Sign Language (ISL), by contrast, is a simplified and internationally oriented system developed for easier communication between signers of different languages. At SprachUnion, we offer professional ASL interpreters, BSL interpreters and International Sign Language interpreters.

Yes, SprachUnion also offers video interpreting services with experienced ASL interpreters, BSL interpreters and interpreters for International Sign Language. This enables flexible, location-independent communication – ideal for virtual meetings, online conferences, or remote consultations.
